George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Same, 1978 Attic Canada, LAT 1159

Today, the new "Rolling Stones " LP was released in Switzerland. Shall i buy it? Do i need it? Is it possible to live without it further on?
Hey, if you want to listen to some great rockin' rhythm'n'blues with much heavy slide guitar, so put this one on your turntable.
But Jeff Simon is definitively not a Charlie Watts, unfortunately.

Juicy Lucy, Same, 1969, Bronze Germany, 26323 ET

In fact this woman is not really happy.
But since 47 years it's me who is happy with this great album of rock and rhythm'n'blues.
Powerful gem. German 1978 reissue with fine dynamics. Good pressing. But it's not the original foldcover.
It's only a simple LP cover, but i will not show to you a picture of backcover, because it is simply dumb.

Cal Tjader, Mambo With Tjader, 1954, Fantasy USA, OJC 271

This must have been the power food Carlos Santana prefered in the 50ies. Mambo, Bolero, Cha Cha Cha. Don't forget to dance.
1978 remastered US reissue with sensational dynamics. Listen loud!

    Stretch out

Stretch out = Improvising? Jamming? Oh, lucky times in those early 70ies for musicians. (Nearly) everything was possible.
Today's music doesn't allow the musicians to stretch out anymore. In fact, music industry is stretching out. Artists don't have the chance anymore to do what they want to do......

Alice Cooper, Pretties For You, 1969, Straight Germany, C 054-90 929

First listen to Pink Floyd's "The piper at the gates of dawn". After that, listen to this one: the first album of Alice Cooper is vol.2 of Pink Floyd's debut.
Very much influenced by Frank Zappa, it's a nearly unknown masterpiece of psychedelic music.
Interesting from the point of view of today: Alice Cooper fans didn't like it in the late 60ies because Vincent Furnier hadn't found "his" style already.

Alice Cooper, Easy Action, 1969, Straight USA, WS 1845

A totally weird one. Difficult to cure. In the 70ies this was called progressive rock music.
Listen to track A4 "Below your means": wild thing!
The next big thing for Alice Cooper was "Glam rock" and "Shock rock". The commercial success later was accompanied by Bob Ezrin and heavy alcohol consumption for many years.

Ben Webster & "Sweets" Edison, Wanted To Do One Together, 1962, Columbia USA, CS 1891

USA reissue of ca. 1995 (?). 180gr Vinyl. Superb pressing and dynamics.
The US vinyl pressings of the 90ies were of much superior quality compared to the European "mass production" of today.
You have to pay attention! "EU-production" is not a sign of quality anymore, because you even don't know the origin country of production (especially Tchechoslowakian pressings). And by the way: "Swiss made" is often not produced anymore in Switzerland exclusively.
