Bob Dylan, Empire Burlesque, 1985, CBS Holland, 86313

    Underrated.
Mick Taylor, Mike Campbell, Ron Wood on guitars.
Listen to track B2 "Emotionally yours": one of the most emotional songs of BD.

The Ventures, Joy, 1972, UA USA, UAS-5575

Thriftstore find this week between Mozart and Bach lps. Hey, to all those unknown classic afficionados: there are thousands of classic lps in the thriftstores which nearly everyone is in perfect condition.
    The Ventures play the classics.
Easy listening. Why not? Once in a month?
Interesting because of Larry Young, bass (Monkees, Canned Heat, John Mayall).
Beautiful cover art on back side without any credits to the painter. Anybody knows the painter?

Mike Heron, Same, 1979, Casablanca USA, NBLP 7186

Thriftstore find this week, placed (and nearly lost) between thousands of german "Schlager"-lps. Because the cover foto shows some kind of young Costa Cordalis (German Schlagersänger) or some Peruvian panpipes musician.
Anyhow, this is sloppy cover art. Not imaginable for the English or German music market in the 70ies.
Obviously, this album was produced in London for the US music market. It's not typical for Mike Heron or Incredible String Band. Therefore the strings played on this one are not as incredible as usual. Anybody owns this one? Did the US music market spoil English folk-rock music?

    A forgotten gem.

Golden Earrings, Miracle Mirror, 1968, Polydor Holland, 2419 054

1976 reissue. Cosmic psychedelic popsounds as Status Quo did in these years of flower power and fancy hairdo. Not yet the hard rockers of "Radar Love". A little sparkling gem. Holland rocks in a different way......

Various Artists, Bonanza, 1962, RCA Victor Germany, LSP 2583

It's Ponderosa party time! TV's original cast.
Listen to the low frequencies of Lorne Greene's bass voice. Good memories of these sunday evening TV series in black and white in the 60ies. Hoss, Little Joe, Ben and Adam were the best cowboys.........

    Good US pressing.

Nice. Killer band. I listened to Moontan this weekend, for the first time in a long time and was blown away.

The Youngbloods - Best Of The Youngbloods
    (1970, RCA)

a nice thrift store find this morning. The cover was partially in shrink before I removed.

I saw Jessie Colin Young performing solo as a concert opening act in Seattle in the early 70s after he left the Youngbloods. Maybe the 1974 CSNY concert?

Chuck Berry, The Chess Box, 1988, Chess USA, 6 Lps, CH6 80001

Happy Birthday to Chuck Berry. 90 years of monkey business and duck walk.
Here are 6 fine Lps! A fine box with 32 pages booklet.
Listen to Willie Dixon playing bass on all these wonderful rocknroll songs between 1955 and 1960.
And listen especially to the beautiful song "Havanna Moon" on track B5, recorded in Chicago 1956 with Jimmy Rogers, guitar and Willie Dixon, bass.

Thin flexible US-Dynagroove pressing with the usual buckling. Hey, this was the time of lack of oil in US. Not enough material for premium vinyl pressings. Today there is oil enough for everybody in USA. And it's cheap!
This is the issue with the brown label. Anybody knows the difference between the brown and the orange RCA-label? I think, this is not an original of 1970, isn't it?
