David Gilmour, Rattle That Lock, 2015, Columbia EU, 123 291, FC, Booklet

Tunes from the riverboat-studio. Producer Phil Manzanera together with DG. Listen to track A4 "A boat lies waiting" with Eno at the piano and Cosby&Nash vocals. Remember "Fat old sun" of Atom Heart Mother.
Jools Holland piano on track B3 "The girl in the yellow dress".
Dark birds and heavy weather on cover art. Beautiful guitar models in the booklet. DG always kept his guitar playing simple with maximum effect.
    Moody.
    A big one.

Gibson guitar sounds until forever. One of the greatest voices of rock music: Johnny Van Zandt. Long may live sweet home Alabama!

Status Quo, Aquostic Stripped Bare, 2014, Fourth Chord Germany, 209848ERE, 2LP, FC

Sunday morning music. Quo classics as you've never heard them before. My last year's favorite of the new albums. Look at the beautiful acoustic guitars on foldcover. Photographs made by Bryan Adams!
Listen to "Paper plane" on track A4 with the accordeon and the "Deutsche car".
You must love this one because it was made with a wink.

Wild Turkey is a Whisky label. That's why Glenn Cornick was fired by Ian Anderson in 1970 ??
There's an interesting interview on www. psychedelicbaby.blogspot.ch from december 13, 2011

Pink Floyd, The Endless River, 2014, Columbia US, 5007881, 2LP, FC, Booklet

There were several reasons for buying this one:
1.) The Pink Floyd LP collection has to be completed.
2.) The booklet is simply beautiful
3.) The foldcover art is great (dedicated to Storm Thorgerson, 1944-2013): look at the empty boat on back cover painting.....
4.) The 2 LPs were pressed in virgin vinyl of 180gr weight
5.) The wonderful dynamics. Listen loud!
6.) The unforgettable Richard Wright (recorded and produced by Bob Ezrin in 1993) on most of the tracks!!

So it was a "must" for me to get this one.

One question: what shall a vinyl afficionado do with the added download voucher?

Great sound of those 45rpm maxi singles. Listen to "Anselma". Produced by T-Bone Burnett

Solid Senders, Same, 1978, Virgin England, V2105, Bonus Live LP

Wilko Johnson g/voc and John Potter piano play hot pub-rock. In fact it's not the ideal music for this sunshine-sunday-morning. Listen to track A5 "First thing in the morning" in JJ Cale-style.
Found this one yesterday in my favorite record shop BRO Records in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Remembering Wilko Johnsons fantastic 2014 LP collaboration with Roger Daltrey:"Going back home".
Listen to the great piano playing by John Potter. Both Ex-Dr.Feelgood. How "Speakerlabfan" would write: smokin'!

    Smokin'

There comes no music out of this monster outdoor thing. Only smoke. And fine grilled meat.

    Grant Green, Solid, 1964, Blue Note US, 3358 1 4, 180gr vinyl 1995 reissue

Mother's Day. Sunny sunday morning. My wife says: this is a very wild one. Not the usual Mother's day music.
    She is right.

Steppenwolf, Same, 1968, Dunhill abc, US, 50029

Magical history tour! "The Pusher" is still one of the biggest rock songs because of the seminal guitar riff. Forget "Smoke on the water"! Very very good US pressing. Still crazy after all these years.
Has anybody heard any news from John Kay? Great voice.

had a UK one a while ago, but she seems to have faded.

Bought this yesterday. 3 of us tried to figure out who the group was, but nobody got it. had to find the group name by searching on one of the song names. There was no catalog number and the disk had no info.

    John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, 1968, Decca Germany, SLK 16558 P

Magical history tour No. 2: Mick Taylor guitar. Plus many members of Collosseum: still great after all these years. Recorded in only 4 days at Decca West Hampstead Studios, April 1968 by Mike Vernon.
