No.1 is "Powderfinger". This vinyl LP is a fine German pressing. Not indicated on the cover are the locations of these live recordings during his 1978 tour. Anybody able to explain the word "Powderfinger"?

Roy Buchanan, Live Stock, 1975, Polydor US, PD 6048

A superb live classic. Recorded in New York City at Town Hall, November 27, 1974. Found today in the "used records bin" at my favorite record shop BRO Records in St. Gallen Switzerland. These used records there are always in very good condition. Since 45 years i bought many many records of my huge collection there. This one is a very dynamic US pressing. Listen to the vocals of Jim Price. He was so much underrated. The master of telecaster brings "Nancy" to the top. "Nancy" was Roy Buchanan's 1953 Fender Telecaster. Anybody knows where Nancy is today?

Superb french pressing with mellow dynamics. Glossy cover. US record companies didn't want their records to be protected by glossy covers. Why didn't they? So we have always this disturbing ring wear on the covers of US LPs. The condition of the cover determinates the value of a record. So keep your records in plastic sleeves!!! It's worth the effort. Vinyl will last for many years, but the covers will fade away in some years. A record without a well kept cover is like a house without a roof.......
The dynamics of this one bring the gratingly sharp cutting sounds of the Telecaster more to the mellow tune. Like the sound of a bell.
Synopsis: this french pressing brings more mellow Telecaster sound than the US version with the sharp tune. And they wanted to protect their LPs for furthermore generations of fans.

Lyrics Analysis of Neil Young's Powderfinger

"Powderfinger": what does this word itself mean? Did Neil coin it himself?
Is it a regional expression of some sort? My take is that it's nickname for a
trigger happy kinda guy, who solves his problems with a gun. Come to think of
it, it may well be a personification of or a metaphor for fate, even death,
itself. I don't think it necessarily refers to the 22 year-old (from here on,
I'll call him "22"). If anything, 22 is a *victim* of Powderfinger.

    Joe Walsh - So What
(1974, ABC Dunhill) "that's no banana, that's my nose" KENDUN B/ KENDUN A in the deadwax, sides 1/2

probably my favorite of Joe's early solo LPs. Scorching guitar. Purchased new. I didn't know at the time the story behind Song For Emma, the last track on the album. I assumed it was about a friend but I later learned the tragic story his 3 year old daughter who died in a car wreck on the way to school. if you listen carefully you can hear him say "bye Emma" after the final "Goodbye". very moving beautiful tribute.
