I've been eagerly awaiting the remastered "Shades" - Deep Purple as it just has outstanding performances all around. The Lp had terrible dynamics and we always attributed it to poor mastering. The liner notes said that they started on the remaster project and discovered that the master tape in their vault was just a dub from the LP .
And then they found the real master in the US and flew it back to Abbey Rd. to get started. Not everything is a huge improvement. Some of the extras should have been left in the can , but the music is so iconic/endearing that we've always put up with the iffy quality. Still is somewhat flat/2 dimensional.

BUT, the DSOM Immersion set is a joy/revelation . The DVD's sound is like the band is in the room , much recommended

I saw a LP copy of this in a thrift, but condition sucked ... so I located a CD of this in the lib.

What a fine debut album. many cuts were covers, but TYA made them their own. Recommended for us fans,

Karen Casey, Two More Hours. A different direction for the Celtic icon, an even bigger left turn than she usually challenges herself and her audience with. Import CD, also on Rhapsody.

Great record! I picked up a nice copy of this for 10 or 15 bucks at a Seattle record show last year. I think it was about a month after Alvin Lee's passing and it caught my eye in a box of nice records from a seller I know and he gave me a good price.

yeah, I'd given up on finding a nice copy "in the wild" , but then 1 turned up
on my son's selling list -->> http://www.discogs.com/buy/Vinyl/Ten...281?ev=bp_titl and we are always doing some trading, so I will have a vinyl copy too.

Sometimes it seems like groups put max effort/talent into their debut offerings and then it's a slow decline from there
