Looks like that Beach Boys LP is a 1980 reissue and re-titled "California Girls". The original '65 LP with that cover was "Summer Days (and Summer Nights)". One of my favorites. Nice find, some of the late 70s/early 80s Capitol reissues on the purple label were mastered by Wally Traugott and sound great.

I have been really happy with Rega turntables - I would find a Rega dealer and check out the Rega RP-1. I think it's good to see a dealer to demo or even borrow a loaner to try in your system. And a dealer should have a professional turntable technician who will get the turntable settings dialed in correctly so that you're getting the most magic out of the grooves possible. And when you're ready save a few hundred more to get a great cartridge to go with the table rather than stick with the one that the manufacturer includes with the TT - again, find a local dealer with a good track record and experience, and get his advice on a great cartridge for the table. If you're in the Northwest, talk to John at The Audio Connection. You get good resale / trade-in value with a new TT too, so when you're ready in a year or two you can move up the ladder to where it gets really interesting ...especially combined with the great Moving Coil cartridges and phono stages out there. Good luck!~
