I have the 1st pressing with the purple/brown label but I was compelled and I couldn't leave this excellent LP (with writing on the cover) when I saw it today for $2.50 (with a 50% off HPB coupon). Cleaned up well on the RCM and sounds terrific.

This is a fantastic live album--great performance by Neil and the band and great song selection! I've only seen one Neil Young concert and it was back in the 90's. He did an acoustic tour--just Neil with his guitar and harmonica. I was blown away by his energetic/passionate performance and how full it sounded with him "thrashing" at his acoustic guitar--with just his harmonica and vocal added in the mix. His opening act that tour was the Indigo Girls who also were all acoustic--just Amy and Emily with their two acoustic guitars. They were fairly new on the "scene" back then, and their performance was very nice. A little jealous that you're seeing Neil this tour--how was the show?
all this talk abt Neil ..gotta chime in. I have a funny thang with NY. Really really like him, BUT after enough of his songs, the voice starts to grate and seems whinny.
do have most of his albums, but they don't get a lot of play. also, I 've been buying albums for my son who sells (many, many) on Discogs.com. I try to audition them before sending off for him to list & sell.
So "On the Beach" was headed to him and I gave it my cursory play. Ended up liking it so much that we agreed not to sell it (not super high value anyway) . Has gotten multiple plays and I'd really recommend it for someone in a similar situation.
Also I asked Chris what he'd like for Xmas ...this was his surprising answer, SJH , on vinyl of course.
