listening to and blowing my mind with the first LP on a new cartridge. There's a really nice low end and separation.
easily one of the top 10 released in the 60's

was there a problem with the Benz or just an upgrade ??

I'm still happy with my various V-15's ....T3 & T5 and just picked up a T4 & another T3, but no where to install them , all 3 active TT's are already set.
Some kind of happiness is measured out in miles

I had about ~500 hours on the Benz ACE's stylus and showed moderate wear under the electron microscope at the dealer. I had it checked when I purchased the Rega P5 in December. So the ACE was not yet due for re-tipping but it was getting there. For home use the expected range for stylii is 600-800 hours which equals about 18 months for me.

I ordered the Benz Wood because it was a step up the ladder, to match the step up to the P5. The ACE showed me what's possible in sound quality from the spendier MC cartridges (when professionally installed on a equally exacting TT), it's not a subtle difference going up the ladder, with incredible soundstage and tight low frequencies, and I'm amazed at how much information is sitting in those vinyl grooves waiting for the right cartridge/stylus to come along and extract it.
