The Beach Boys - Smiley Smile
    (1967, Brother) Mono; T 9001

"Title for this album by Barry Turnbull" on the back cover.

In Fort Worth, Texas there is a drug clinic which takes people off the streets and helps them get over bad LSD trips. They don't use any traditional medical treatment whatsoever. All they do is play the patient our Smiley Smile album and apparently this acts as a soothing remedy which relaxes them and helps them to recover completely from their trip.

    earlier...

Flatt & Scruggs - Nashville Airplane
    (1968, Columbia)

    now...

Nancy Sinatra, Lee Hazlewood - Nancy & Lee Again
    (1972, RCA)

Another fun record with duets between Nancy Sinatra and the deep baritone of Lee Hazlewood. includes a cover of Dolly Parton's Down From Dover, a song about the misfortune of a pregnant unwed girl, controversial for the times when Parton recorded in 1970.

Steeleye Span - Ten Man Mop Or Mr. Reservoir Butler Rides Again
    (1971, Chrysalis) Green label - 1st US issue/1976.

great electric folk. this is a first listen to this record, which I picked up last month. I wish I could teleport back to the time when I saw them in the early 70s, I saw them at the University of Washington when they were opening for some other act (J Geils? Loggins & Messina?). an interesting story on wiki about the 1st cover for this record:

The album was notable for having a textured "gatefold" sleeve and inner pages on its original release. This was paid for by the band but cost more to print than the album generated in profits, meaning the band lost money on each album sold. None of the re-releases have included the original number of pages of liner notes.

Martha Velez - Fiends & Angels
(1969, Sire/London) Bell Sound sf in the deadwax; mastered by Sam Feldman at Bell Sound

Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Brian Auger, Christine McVie, Jim Capaldi, Mitch Mitchell, (and Jimi Hendrix?). Can definitely hear Clapton's playing on side 2. A thrift find from a couple of years ago, in excellent shape.

Wow that's a pretty spectacular case of delusional pricing. don't complain too much though because the cluelessness cuts both ways, as you probably have noticed while you're wheeling out a $9 pair of L-300's.

    Wishbone Ash - Pilgramage
    (1971, Decca)

twin lead guitars. I saw Wishbone Ash at the University of Washington probably in 1973 - it was quite a show with the long intricate guitar heavy instrumentals an early taste of progressive rock for me. I'm comparing this with an excellent 2nd copy that I found in the HPB clearance bin a few months back.
