Progressive rock ELP Moog synthesizer goodness; I wish I had listened to this earlier, it's tasty. I've passed on copies of this record in the clearance bins in the past but picked up this one a couple of months ago.

Adrian Belew - Twang Bar King
(1983, Island) Promo/NFS; JG JVC in the deadwax; mastered by Joe Gastwirt at the JVC Cutting Center, L.A.

I just learned that I missed a Belew / Tony Levin tour stop in Seattle last week, they are playing a King Crimson set. This is a 2nd solo LP for Belew. It starts off with a cover of The Beatles B-side on the Help single, IIRC..."I'm Down". In addition to being a member of King Crimson has done session work with Zappa, Bowie, Talking Heads. a $1 pickup in September.

Jimi Hendrix - West Coast Seattle Boy, Record 5
(2011, Experience Hendrix) STERLING RJ; mastered by Ray Janos

All of side 2 is the Hendrix / Young jam.
Speaking of another Young, Neil Young, I ran interesting discussion on the thrasherswheat site about how he and Hendrix traveled together to Woodstock[/URL]...

From a radio interview program "On The Record" by Mary Turner in 1979, Neil was asked about what he remembered of Woodstock:
Young: "One of things I remember about Woodstock was trying to get there to play. As it turns out, the charter plane I was on with Jimi Hendrix flew into the wrong airport. We were supposed to be picked by a helicopter. The roads were jammed and there was nobody at the airport, so we had no way to get to the concert.
So we're standing at the airport with Melvin Belli [an attorney] trying to figure out what to do. And Melvin Belli steals this pickup truck parked at the airport.
So it's the three of us in this stolen pickup truck trying to get to the Woodstock concert to play -- Jimi, Melvin & me.
That's what I really remember about Woodstock.

Some might remember Melvin Belli from his turn as a bad guy on the Original Star Trek series.

Wow--you have a great memory! Here's a pic from him in Star Trek--anyone who's seen this episode will recognize Melvin's face....

Hmmm, a lawyer who plays a very convincing "bad guy". I wonder how much of a stretch that was?!

The Who - Odds & Sods
    (1974, Track) 1980 RCA – NL 33158 Italy pressing

a $7 HPB pickup on the way home from work today. I haven't done a comparison with my US copies but this one sounds nice. A compilation / collection of fun outtakes which would make killer content for an average band but were throwaways for the 'oo

Pete Townshend - Who Came First
(1972, Track) Holland pressing - 1972 Polydor LP

a $2 pickup at HPB today. The Holland LP has a cover variation with Pete's name in text - most of covers only have the LP title on the cover. Unfortunately an otherwise nice cover is marred by the remains of a label...but the LP is excellent. Someone had dropped off a bunch of Who records, the majority being '80s US reissues on MCA, I did have to take the hook for the import pressings of this and the Italian Odds & Sods Lps.
