The man can play! Not to mention, he's a great writer/singer. I've seen him live before and the energy/intensity of his live performances are amazing. Here are a few from my Johnny collection (there's something about blues and vinyl--a match made in heaven)......

No, I have most of his earlier LP's (including some with he and Edgar together) but I don't have that one--maybe it's time to go shopping!

    Hit 4 thrifts today

    .
and found nothing until the last, closest to me ....thot it looked pretty good shape and started to check the vinyl .....its a virgin - still sealed ....contemplated leaving it that way, but its not super valuable. (even with no UPC)

Oh yeah, I've witnessed a new zenith in ridiculousness, Salvation Army had "Barry Manalow LIVE" ..you know the one,,,Barry in a bright blue jumpsuit and both arms reaching for the stars ...marked "COLLECTABLE" for $14 US (wasnt even in decent condition )

Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
(1969, Island) 1976 US issue on Antilles; STERLING in the deadwax

w/ Richard Thompson and Danny Thompson on guitar and bass respectively. Ranked #283 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the top 500 albums of all time. An unexpected 79 cent thrift find last month. I have a compilation on ceedee, but I never thought that I'd run across a Nick Drake record at a thrift store.

Roy Harper - One Of Those Days In England (Bullinamingvase)
    (1977, Chrysalis)

A $1 pickup a few weeks ago. This pressing includes "Watford Gap", last song on side 1. from the wiki write-up...
Originally the album contained the song "Watford Gap" which contained somewhat disparaging lyrics "...concerning the Watford Gap service station, a motorway service area situated between junctions 16 and 17 of the M1 Motorway, near Watford Gap, in Northamptonshire, England". "Watford Gap, Watford Gap, a plate of grease and a load of crap" sang Harper.[2]

"Subsequent pressings omitted the song at the behest of an EMI board member who was (also) a non-executive director of Blue Boar (the owners of the service station)..."

The 2 LP compilation starts off with Long Tall Sally and You Still Want Me. Listening to record 1. One of the finds in several hundred records that I received from a friend last weekend.

Bachman Turner Overdrive - self titled
(1973, Mercury) G.K. in the deadwax ; mastered by Gilbert Kong

BTO's debut record, I remember hearing Blue Collar on the radio which was the first I'd heard of these guys. This is a fine sounding Gilbert Kong mastered rock record.
