Captain Beefheart And The Magic Band - Clear Spot
    (1972, Reprise)

I need repeated listenings to appreciate Beefheart records, but it's worth the effort. Clear Spot is a little more accessible than other titles that I have - having Ted Templeman, who produced the Doobie Brothers, as producer probably helps here. "Her Eyes Are a Blue Million Miles" is on The Big Lebowski soundtrack.

Otis Redding - The Dock Of The Bay
    (1968, Atco)

The title song was co-written with Steve Cropper, the guitar player from Booker T. & The M.G.s, who is also producer here. The album cover is rough but the LP is excellent, with wonderful late 60s dynamics.

was listening to Pandora last night on the Senns ....the screen blacks out after 1 minute. Some electric blues came on that was so good that I had to awaken the iTouch to see what was playing..

thought I read it wrong ....said "Chicken Shack" ...turned it up and went back to enjoying ...I had NEVER hear of them, but I guess they are real

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_Shack

Chicken Shack are a British blues band, founded in the mid-1960s by Stan Webb (guitar and vocals), Andy Silvester (bass guitar), and Alan Morley (drums), who were later joined by Christine Perfect (vocals and keyboards) in 1968.

I bet that was nice. I've seen a 1969 title "100 Ton Chicken", released after Christine left, but I have yet to run across one when she was in the band.

John & Yoko / Plastic Ono Band with Elephant's Memory - Some Time In New York City
(1972, Apple) Bell Sound sf in the deadwax; mastered by Sam Feldman at Bell Sound

"John & Yoko forever. Peace on earth and goodwill to all men '72" in the deadwax, side 1. It's interesting but not a great record. I remember going wtf? when I first heard this in the 70s, and it hasn't aged with me. with Franka Zappa, Howard Kaylan, Mark Volman, Klaus Voorman.

Legendary stuff on side A. But side B is kinda offbeat pointless jam session. Maybe they want to beat up The Who - A Quick One, Stones - Goin' Home, The Velvet Underground - Sister Ray or The Seeds - Up in Her Room . Revelation bacame Disintegration

One of the last of the original QMS records, but without lead guitar John Cipollina who had already left to start his own band Copperhead - returning in 1975 for a QMS re-incarnation.
