    The Turtles - Happy Together
(1967, White Whale) 1983 Rhino reissue RNLP 152

Classic American 60s pop, this album includes Warren Zevon's "Like The Seasons" which was the B-side on "Happy Together". a 50 cent yard sale fine with a bit of water damage on the cover but the LP is excellent.

How about some FREE for the Independence Day holiday weekend in the US, and a tip of the hat to our neighbors to the north. This is the debut record for the british blues rock band, Simon Kirk, Andy Fraser, Paul Rodgers, Paul Kossoff - all were under 20 when this album came out, Fraser was 16 years old.
been listening to a lot of FREE this past week (and always THE DOORS) so doing a little Wiki surfing , I found these snipllts

Paul Bernard Rodgers best known for his success in the 1970s as a member of Free and Bad Company.

For a short time, Free were alongside Led Zeppelin as among the highest grossing British acts though Free's status did not sustain.

It was revealed in April, 2011 that after Jim Morrison's death, the rest of The Doors wanted Rodgers to replace him. Rodgers has said that he was unreachably rural at the time, and the moment passed.

interesting stuff. I don't think anyone could replace Jim Morrison. But I think Paul Rodgers, with those great blues vocals, fronting Ray Mazarek keyboards and Robby Kreiger on guitar would have been an interesting listen.

    Cream - Live Cream
(1970, Atco) 1977 reissue on RSO

A blistering performance by Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker. I also have a copy of Live Cream II which came out in 1972 on Atco. Not sure the date on my Polydor reissue.

    It's A Beautiful Day - self titled
(1969, Columbia) 1970 orange label pressing

The self-titled debut album by San Francisco psychedelic band. I have a couple of nice 2-eye 360 Sound pressings, but I couldn't pass up this excellent copy when I spotted it for a buck.

    Airto - Free
(1972, CTI) VAN GELDER in the deadwax

with Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Ron Carter, George Benson, Hubert Laws, Flora Purim. includes a version of "Return To Forever" which sounds very nice, I always expect a lot of dynamics and soundstage from the Brazilian jazz drummer and percussionist's records and he delivers here. a 99cent thrift find from last week.

    The Flock - self titled
    (1969, Columbia)

Jerry Goodman's electric violin predominates on the debut from this Chicago based jazz rock band. Papa John Creach wasn't the only one lighting up the fiddle with a rock band. Goodman went on to play with the Mahavishnu Orchestra. I picked up this nice 2-eyes copy a few weeks back.

    Van Morrison - T.B. Sheets
    (1973, Bang)

I can hear the beginnings of Astral Weeks here including 1968's Madam George, with it's references to Cypress Avenue. a garage sale pick-up from a few weeks ago where Uncles record collection was in several boxes, many of them, like this one, appeared to have been played once to tape - there was a nice Nakamichi tape deck at the sale as well.
