He was #51 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest guitar players. 5 tracks, two are instrumental. one track is co-written with John Martyn who plays guitar. with Alan White, Simon Kirke on drums; Kirke, Paul Rodgers, vocals & Andy Fraser, bass from Free/Bad Company on some tracks. A 50 cent HPB find a few weeks ago.

Third studio record from Free. A great record from a great roots oriented blues-rock band that didn't get the attention they warranted. [Inside Free documentary][/URL]

Astrud Gilberto / Walter Wanderly Trio - A Certain Smile A Certain Sadness
(1966, Verve) V-8673; Mono pressing; VAN GELDER in the deadwax

Bossa Nova and samba, right on the edge of cocktail music but Gilberto's singing and Wanderly's organ are always interesting to me. Astrud Gilberto was the voice behind "The Girl From Impenema". an excellent $1 copy found at a yard sale recently.

I wondered abt that title ...figured that it was SOB's ...Sons of B!tches , but wiki says this

"Tons of Sobs is the debut album by English blues-rock band Free, released on 14 March 1969. While the album failed to chart in the UK and reached number 197 in the US, Free are still cited as one of the definitive bands of the British blues boom of the late 1960s even though this is the only album of their canon that can strictly be called blues-rock. The title of the album does not relate directly to the content of the album; it is both a colloquialism of "lots of money", reflecting the swaggering attitude with which the album was made, and an oblique reference to the darker, more sombre moments of the record."

FREE is well appreciated around here too ...need to go grab my lib reserved hold on Best of Free CD today

Lee Michaels - Lee Michaels Live
    (1973, A&M)

2 LP set with Michaels on the Hammond organ and vocals, and only drums for accompaniement, but it seems like more than enough with the rockin' long jams. The front and rear of the cover has cut-outs which lineup with the inner sleeve pictures.
