Mimi And Richard Farina - Celebrations For A Grey Day
    (1965, Vanguard)

debut record with Bruce Langhorne on electric guitar. Dulcimer combined with folk & electric guitar adds an edge, nice music for a rainy Saturday morning.

progressive rock, hard rock, and gregorian chants.
Their first wasn't bad, but its not their best ...
try Octopus, or Three Friends, or In a Glass House for better stuff by them.

I do have an Octopus U.K. Vertigo pressing, and several other GG titles, would love to track down Three Friends or In A Glass House on a black licorice pizza. They're an auto-buy for me, even their later stuff like Free Hand.

    Bee Gees - - Odessa
    (1969, Atco)

I've had this record for a few years, this is a first listen. The early Bee Gees made some interesting 60s music, pop ballads, progressive rock. Listening to record 1.
Odessa was initially released on Atco Records in a red flocked cover with gold lettering. Due to the high cost of production, as well as allergic reactions among workers during assembly, this design was discontinued

(1964, Capitol) T 2047 2nd '64 pressing with ASCAP and BMI credits on the label

Like DC5, another British invasion band with US title. Whatever became of these guys? a $1 Estate sale pickup this morning, pristine except the smudges and dust and cleaned up well on the VPI 16.5.

Poco - Pickin' Up The Pieces
    (1969, Epic)

Inspired by the country-rock thread in the music forum. The sun is out, seems like a good time for this good-time country-rock debut from Poco. Nicely recorded, sounds like a continuation of Buffalo Springfield.

The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Newport 1958
(1958, Columbia) Aussie import on CBS Coronet label KLP 780

a record that I picked up yesterday at an E-sale, cleaned up well on the VPI 16.5 and looks great, sounds great with minimal surface noise. I'm listening on a pair of Carver Amazings with 60" of planar transducer ribbons on each side; great for jazz. w/ Paul Desmond (as), Dave Brubeck (p), Joe Benjamin, Norman Bates (b), Joe Morello, Joe Dodge (d)
