Some of the folks at AudioGon were talking about this album this week - Abraxas Pool.
Its a newer album by a lot of the folks from the original Santana Band, without Carlos ...
Gregg Rolie, Michael Shrieve, Neal Schon, Alphonso Johnson, plus Michael Carabello and Jose Areas ...

Heard some teaser snips so I bought the CD used midweek (its a 1997 CD thats apparently out of print).
CD arrived yesterday and its VERY nice ...
really has the feel of that early band - quite impressive!

Understand I have a LOT of the early and mid period Santana ... from the main 3, plus Caravansarei, Borboletta. Lotus, and Moonflower -
I've got Supernatural and Shaman - they mostly make me want to hear older material - ...

That said - if you like the early band - you'll probably enjoy Abraxas Pool.

for some unexplained reason, I like 007 soundtrack albums ..
(must be the John Barry influence )

grabbed this LP yesterday, not quite what I expected, but good.
lots of orchestral background to suspenseful scenes.

I have the CD, great record with terrific rock guitar. I was happy to find this at an Estate sale last weekend.
Great album! This was Television's best effort IMHO. I agree with you about the guitar work, Television guitarist Richard Lloyd really shines on this LP. He went on to record and tour with Matthew Sweet (a phenomenal "retro"/60's style artist). Richard Lloyd has a really unique style--I saw Matthew Sweet this summer in Buffalo, NY and you could tell that it wasn't easy for his new guitarist to play Richard's guitar leads! (although he did a great job at it and really sounded excellent). Matthew's latest tour celebrated the 20th anniversary of his "Girlfriend" album and he played the album in it's entirety (plus newer great material as well). Here are three cuts from that LP featuring Richard Lloyd on guitar....

Ann Pebble. Excellent Memphis Soul from the mid 1970s. Purchased this disc in the early 1980s. The label is Hi-Records, same label as Otis Clay, Al Green, Syl Johnson. Ann Pebble is perhaps Al Green's female counterpart. She's mostly known for "I can't stand the rain" and "I'm gonna tear your playhouse down" which was covered by Paul Young in the mid 1980s. But every track on this album is superb. A must have for Soul lovers.

Peruvian singer recorded in 1950. One fo the nicest record sleeve in my collection. And an hallucinating voice. If you thought that Screaming Jay Hawkins was out of this world, strap yourself to your seat when you hear Ymac Sumac.
