    Raging Slab - s/t
(1989, RCA) STERLING in the deadwax, mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound, NYC

Produced by Daniel Rey (who also produced Iggy Pop, The Ramones). A 1989 Guitar World review of Raging Slab described the group's sound as "Lynyrd Skynyrd meets Metallica". I can hear the influences. This record cooks, especially like a track called "Bent For Silver".

Yes, this is a highlight of the 80ies. No synthies. No pale faces. No fancy hairdo.
This is the German issue. These late 80ies black label pressings of RCA were superb.
So let the Gibson guitars talk....

I'm a fan of "Rare Earth", but realize that besides presentation their strength
was in program selection. The material that they wrote did NOT fare well, but
the tunes that they took from "The Temptations" are what propelled them.

As an extension from that I started to research the T's. Their presentation was
at times even better than RE's.

So, was happy recently to find this German CD with a fine track selection and
exemplary sonics. Can already see that it will be in the rotation cycle.

Asleep At The Wheel, Wheelin' and Dealin', 1976, Capitol England, E-ST 11546

Old-fashioned swing, western swing, country ballads, Cajun, and good old rocknroll.
Mediocre dynamics on this English pressing.

Big Brother & The Holding Company, Same, 1967, Columbia Special Products USA, P 13313

Great company. Very fine dynamics on this US pressing with this strange label by Columbia Special Products. 2 tracks not appearing on sleeve credits: A6/B6
I like this one, because Janis Joplin is not dominating the band. Listen to fine guitar tunes on right channel.

Fine US reissue of ca.1995. Superb dynamics. Recorded Live at Fillmore. Iconic cover art by Robert Crumb. This album took a little piece of my heart.
