    Aerosmith - "Rocks"
(1976, Columbia) STERLING in the deadwax, mastered at Sterling Sound, NYC

This serves as a needed palate cleanser after the plodding and dreadful "The Beach Boys Love You". I was looking at a publication Kurt Cobain journals at Half Price books today and I saw that he listed this record in his top albums list. Another Aerosmith cover, like Get Your Wings, that always seem to have ring wear.

Yes - 20 Originals Of Yes
    (1975, Atlantic) French pressing

Another from the 20 Originals series, this is a 2LP package with the band's 1969 self titled LP and 1971s Time And A Word LP. Original covers on the inner gatefold. Listening to record 1, Yes. Steve Howe on guitar and Chris Squire on bass really stand out.

Cat Stevens - Cat Stevens Greatest Hits
(1975, Island) ILPS 9310 UK pressing

Wow, this is a nice sounding LP mastering, very dynamic and wide. The poster/lyric sheet has gone missing.

    Ron Carter - Anything Goes
(1975, Kudu) VAN GELDER in the deadwax

instrumental jazz funk bordering on cheesy with lots of CTI regulars including Eric Gale, Steve Gadd, Hubert Laws, Phil Woods, Mike Brecker, Randy Brecker. Ron Carter's bass playing shines above the funked-up arrangements and makes it worth the listen.

    Mike Oldfield - Hergest Ridge
    (1974, Virgin) UK pressing

Oldfield playing acoustic guitar, bass guitar, electric guitars; Farfisa, Gemini, and Lowrey organs; glockenspiel, gong, mandolin, nutcracker, sleigh bells, Spanish guitar, timpani, and tubular bells (of course). The layered electric guitars leave the biggest impression for me. ...a nice 88 cent pickup a few days ago.

The Gary Burton Quartet - Lofty Fake Anagram
    (1967, RCA Victor) LSP-3901

with Larry Coryell, guitar; Steve Swallow, bass; Bobby Moses, drums. Coryell's electric guitar noodling here goes well with Burton's vibes.

The Dukes Of Stratosphear - Psonic Psunspot
(1987, Geffen) Promo/NFS; Artisan symbol in the deadwax

Gold foil promo stamp on the cover. These guys must have had fun making this record. It's a fun listen.

Sir John Johns (Andy Partridge) - singing, guitar, brain buds
The Red Curtain (Colin Moulding) - electric bass, song stuff
Lord Cornelius Plum (Dave Gregory) - mellotron, piano, organ, fuzz-tone guitar
E.I.E.I. Owen (Ian Gregory) - drum set

    Humble Pie - Thunderbox
    (1974, A&M)

cover design by Hipgnosis. from wikipedia ...

Incidentally, the word Thunderbox is a seventeenth century slang word for the toilet[2] which gives an example of Humble Pie's sense of humour.[3] The cover shows a keyhole through which a woman can be seen sitting on a toilet.

beautiful weather ...biked to the flea market and Gresham (for those of you that don't read my bike thread ..I am currently #12 for mileage in Oregon for 2012 ..on bikejournal.com) ...anyway , the flea mkt had a new vendor , a failed record store ...closing out the inventory ...abt 10 boxes of records , most in plastic , with prices of $8 to $12 each ...your choice for a buck.. nabbed these 10 ..all in super condition ..the extra weight was sure noticed on my next incline climb ...

the FM,GF and Kinks are all doubles ....have seen Guess Who's GH vol 1 many times but this vol 2 is new to me.
