    This is an ugly beauty.
    Beautiful melodies. Ugly voice.
    You have to like it.......
Norman Smith was predecessor of Geoff Emerick at Abbey Road from 1960-1965. He was chief recording technician for the Beatles until Rubber Soul. He produced the first 3 Lps for Pink Floyd.

The most hated woman in whole music history. IMHO not because of spoiling the party of the Beatles, but because of misusing so many superb studio musicians. Too many mind games!

Sabicas, Rock Encounter With Joe Beck, 1970, Polydor Germany, 2425 024

Something special. Crossover of rock music and flamenco. Recorded 1966 (!!) at Mira Sound Studios, NYC.
"This album sets a groove. It is perhaps the first time an international classical concert performer of world renown has sat down and seriously tried to get into rock." (cit: back cover notes)
Sabicas is Augustin Castellon Campos from Pamplona, Spain. Legendary flamenco guitar player. He didn't like this album, because the rock musicians were "too loud" against his acoustic guitar.
Fantastic rock guitar tunes by Joe Beck (in 1966!!)
Donald McDonald dr. Tony Levin b. Warren Bernhardt kb.
So let's listen to "Zambra" A4.
    Clap hands, here comes Sabicas!

Mediocre dynamics on this English (?) ( 5C......=Netherland?) pressing. Listen to the fine slide guitar solos of George Harrison in the middle of "Gimme some truth" B1 and "How do you sleep?" B3. It's a sin of Phil Spector to let fade out the fantastic electric piano solo of Nicky Hopkins at the and of this sardonic song.

Holland cheapo label MFP (Music for pleasure). 1980 reissue with poor sound qualities. Different cover art.
Somewhat underrated work because of lousy mixing. A mash of sounds.
What would have been the result, if George Martin would have been the producer of this one?

Various Artists, El Pea, 1971, Island Germany, 85 378 XT

Island Records shows some of his treasures.
Interesting sampler with rare tracks of all these great bands of the early 70ies.
Listen to Nick Drake's beautiful "One of these things first" from LP "Bryter Layter" D2.
    El Pea=LP?

The Ikettes were considerably more than Ike Turner's dancing girls.
So give your speakers a treat.
