Not that it's a substitute but Levon's daughter, Amy, has one hell of a nice voice and sings backup on Kenny White's fine album "Symphony in 16 Bars" on several cuts, the most memorable probably "Different Today". She also sings lead vocals in her own traditional group, Ollabelle. On their first album, the eponymous "Ollabelle", Amy sings a superb version of the Stones' "I am Waiting", and her Dad joins in on drums on "Can't Nobody Do Me Like Jesus". (Their second CD, "Riverside Battle Songs", is also a fine listen but not enough of the girls' voices for my taste.) And if you're lucky enough to live near Woodstock, NY, Levon's hometown:Dug out some DVDs to play while they nailed the Cable TV back up to the trees, watched "Last Waltz" and realized...I REALLY miss those guys...

jim and herbman, i am currently gathering up all the mingus i can find in the used bins all throughout the philadelphia metrpolitan area. my favorites are mingus ah-umm and blues and roots. i been into the blues for a long time. attend the pocono blues festival every year and seen just about every major act live ever many minor ones. it is a pity mingus (my current favorite) is no longer with us. but, it is great to talk tunes with a person with good taste.
