Excellent! I had Mona pop up in "shuffle" the other day - a fine album!

Not that it's a substitute but Levon's daughter, Amy, has one hell of a nice voice and sings backup on Kenny White's fine album "Symphony in 16 Bars" on several cuts, the most memorable probably "Different Today". She also sings lead vocals in her own traditional group, Ollabelle. On their first album, the eponymous "Ollabelle", Amy sings a superb version of the Stones' "I am Waiting", and her Dad joins in on drums on "Can't Nobody Do Me Like Jesus". (Their second CD, "Riverside Battle Songs", is also a fine listen but not enough of the girls' voices for my taste.) And if you're lucky enough to live near Woodstock, NY, Levon's hometown:
(Woodstock, NY) Jhe Bearsville Theater and 100.1 WDST/Radio Woodstock proudly present an extraordinary 2-night review featuring Ollabelle and starring very special guests Donald Fagen (Steely Dan) and Phoebe Snow, Friday February 2nd and Saturday February 3rd. Doors open at 8 pm and the show begins at 9 pm on both nights. Ticket prices are $65 for golden circle seats, $45 for reserved seating and $30 for admission to the lounge/standing room. Tickets are available at the Bearsville Theater Box Office, at www.WDST.com or at www.bearsvilletheater.com. For more information contact The Bearsville Theater (845) 679-4406, or visit www.WDST.com. This is the first time these three sensational acts are appearing together. Ollabelle will back Snow and Fagen on classic selections from their respective repertoires, as well as performing some of their own eclectic material. The legendary Bearsvillle Theater is a beautiful, intimate theater with limited seating providing a perfect opportunity to experience these artists firsthand – so people are encouraged to buy their tickets now!
I wish it was next year and my daughter was in school nearby. I'd be there!

somebody done hoodooed the hoodoo man

jim and herbman, i am currently gathering up all the mingus i can find in the used bins all throughout the philadelphia metrpolitan area. my favorites are mingus ah-umm and blues and roots. i been into the blues for a long time. attend the pocono blues festival every year and seen just about every major act live ever many minor ones. it is a pity mingus (my current favorite) is no longer with us. but, it is great to talk tunes with a person with good taste.
