Vinegar Joe, Six Star General, 1973, Island Germany, 87 353 IT

What great vocal combination: Elkie Brooks and Robert Palmer! This one comes from the times, when everything was possible in rock music. Nearly everything. Listen to Andy Frasers "Talkin' 'bout my baby" B3. Hot stuff.

Italian 2006 reissue. Mediocre dynamics. Psychedelic pop cult LP for flower power hippies. Produced by Giorgio Gomelsky (owner of Crawdaddy Club, manager of The Rolling Stones, producer of Yardbirds, Soft Machine, Gong....) Jim Cregan,g (Stud, Family, Cockney Rebel, Rod Stewart et al.)
This band was called Giorgio Gomelsky's Lonely Hearts Club Band. A crazy one!

Alan Shacklock, guitars. Janita Haan, voc.
Listen to the jazzy flute and the fine guitar solo in "Lady" A1.
    Underrated album.

Steve Hillage, Green, 1978, Virgin Germany, 25 875 XOT

Produced by Nick Mason. Most of the tracks have a cold esoteric atmosphere. As noted on back cover: a celebration of time-space travel through nature. Listen to "Palm Trees (Love Guitar) A4, the only more or less natural song on this LP. Weak vocals. What a pity Mr. Mason and Mr. Hillage!

Tucky Buzzard, Warm Slash, 1971, Capitol Italy, 3C-062-81016

Superb hard heavy rock from England. Underrated. Cult album. A masterwork? A desert island disc? Look at the producer on back cover with the buzzard on his back: it's Bill Wyman. Jimmy Henderson: great voice! Listen to track A5 "Which way, when for why": a hammond/guitar/vocal-groove monster...

Charles Mingus, Pithecanthropus Erectus, 1956, Atlantic USA, SD 8809, RI 1981

A musical painting: Gershwin's "It's a foggy day" A2. Remembering many years ago: sitting in my car, waiting at the most crowded crossroad. Milano, Italy. City center. Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia.
No policeman to regulate the heavy traffic. No chance for me to get away. Car drivers all around me. Showing their middle fingers. Stampede of pedestrians pointing with the forefingers against their heads, swearing at those bloody tourists. High noon in Milano. And this is the sound....
