    2405H lens on 2404H driver?

'Just curious - since the diaphragms are the same, could the front or "lens" portion from a 2405H be mounted on the magnet or "driver" section from a 2404H, resulting in a 2405H functionally? I only have the 2404H here right now, so I don't know how the 2405 lens section bolts up.

Looks like a different bolt pattern, John.

    David,

Are you sure? I have never had a 2404H apart so I don't know, but JBL is usually pretty smart about using driver motors in as many applications as possible to keep costs down.

John, why don't measure the bolt pattern so that a forum member with a 2405H could compare. I do know that JBL sells the 2405 horn body and wedge both as separate pieces and at fairly reasonable prices.

Might be worth checking with exact measurements. I don't have a 2405H. The bolt pattern on the Alnico version is rotated--that may not matter. The distance between the bolts looks to be about 2.5" for both the 077 and the 2404H.

    P.S.
Added for clarification. You probably know this, but that's 2.5" O.C.

I'll measure the 2404 mounts a little later.

There's a guy selling a shredded set of 2405H on eBay that don't work, and if the price was right I was thinking of getting them for the lenses.

    John,

You might call JBL Pro to get the current price for the horns and wedges. New ones would be nicer than a corroded or scratched up pair. The last time I checked I was surprised at how reasonable they were.

I have a pair of extra wedges you might be able to talk me out of... you could certainly borrow them.

Thanks Widget. I'm starting to lay out my plans for a "super" 4315 using the Sub1500, 2012H, 2105H, and either 2404H 0r 2405H. I'm just a little concerned about the HF rolloff of the 2404H compared to the 2405H. I'll check out the JBL prices.

Widget - I looked through the price lists at jblproservice and couldn't identify those parts for the 2405H.

Could you drop me a pm or other on what I should be looking for?

    Thanks - John

The inner horn is in the 5/11/04 miscellaneous parts list:

    47523 inner horn 2405 $21.92

Right below it is another listing for "inner horn, polished," for about a dollar less.

I've seen the outer horn listed recently, too, but I can't find it right now.
