    Help for a DIY project

    Hello,
after restoring a few little monitors, it´s the time to start a serious DIY project.
I´m thinking about floor monitors with two or three ways, 12 or 15 inch woofer, tweeter with horn and lens, in or outside the cabs, and perhaps a mid or supertweeter.
I would like to use drivers easy to find and not much expensive.
I´m concerned about the cabinets measures and the correct crossovers.
Any sugestion and help would be highly appreciated.

Help for a DIY project (4333 or L300 clones)

    I would like a monitor like 4333 or L300.
What is better and easier to clone?

This project is fairly similar to the 4333/L300: http://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/s...ead.php?t=8363 Finished project from post #6.

It will be harder than than 4333/L300 since you have to make the horns, and you'll most likely find the curved cabinets a bit harder to make too.

If you go for cloning a stock, or earlier project you can safely put all the drivers in the same cabinet.

If you plan on developing a speaker, you'll most likely benefit from having the drivers in separate cabinets for easy switching and moving around.

Yup ,Zilch thats the way I did it , and to date I am still very satisfied with the results. Visitors to my man cave are amazed at the clarity etc etc. In the end I have found that the best sonics are to be had with a lower Bass / Mid crossover point , prob about 650Hz. It did all take a while to run in , the 2235 in particular became more extended and less choked sounding.
It is the case that the M553 is quite sensitive to small adjustments but I guess I am happy in that I have not been near it for months.
I would expect that a treatment could be worked out for use with one of those nice waveguide thingy's and a 1.5 " driver but can you get the B/M as low ?
If you went true to the original X/O points you could certainly reduce the height of my build by a few inches and thus return to the original proportions a little.

    Seasons greetings to all Mac
