I have a pair of N500D crossovers for my A7-500's. The Knob on the back of the crossover does not move freely like other vintage Altec crossovers I have. What I mean is when you turn the knob it clicks into the next possition. Is this normal for that x-over?

    Switch needs cleaning

It's a rotary switch, so Yes it is normal.

    Another thing to remember...

is it is probably tar filled and difficult to take apart to replace parts if you had to repair them.

If they work okay, I would leave them alone as they would be worth more if you sold them in the future totally original.
