Smile What kind of amplifier for the L 65 .........

    Hello,
I'm from Italy, and is the first time I write here.
I have a pair of L65A, which are now amplified by an old Nad 3020, but
i will try an amp more refined yet sufficiently powerful (price range about $1800). Can you give me some advice? I prefer the solid state but ........ all suggestions are welcome.
    Thank you all !

What do you like in the 200-watts-per-channel range?

The possible answers to your question will involve subjective responses with regional and brand bias. Not that they'll not bring some excellent suggestions...just not likely to provide any real illumination.

You are probably right ........ for me it is important to understand what were the most common choices to amplify these speakers (ss/tube). I understand that everyone has their own preferences anyway ......... thanks!

Best allround result i have had with my L65 is the Crown K2.

Not as tight bottom end as the XTi-1000, but much better in the midrange and treble.

None of the home amplifier i have tested managed to get a grip on the woofer.

However i would guess that a vintage ML would do the trick.

I have some L65 Jubals which I have powered with a McIntosh MC2255 (250 watts per channel) and I found it to be a great match. The MC2255 dates back to the early 1980's and I think you should be able to find one within the $1,800 budget that you have targeted.

If you've never owned one before, think carefully about buying a McIntosh though... Mac ownership is almost as addictive as JBL products.

    Just my two Mac-cents.
My biggest fear is that, after I am dead, my kids will sell my audio equipment for what I told them I paid for it.

I totally agree. I really miss my MC-402. Had to sell it a couple of years ago due to bad economy.....

    L65 great stufffff

I have two pairs of L65's and am running all four with one Altec 2204. 75 wpc and they perform well, they are running my mid rear and back rear in my theater.
Well why not it's just one more pair...
4340's and 250ti's what an odd pair...
