    Enclosure for 2235h

    Hey,


    I might wanna get a pair of these, even thou they're hard to find.
    I looked on jblpro.com and it says 85-285liters bassreflex...
    Well thats a huge range
    So how big do I actually have to go to achieve the bottom end ?
    They will be running in about 30mē....


    The JBL 4430 has 150liter netto-volume, is this the optimum?

    I know this is off topic but what drivers are u going to use or are u building a sub

    Im standing right infront of a new projekt...
    Maybe they`re running with a 2"-driver and 2405,
    or with K-110, 1"-driver and 2405...

    use winisd pro and design your box, Zilch and Grumpy might help you in calculating the final port details, with Bass Box 6; but its easier than you think.

    You need to decide where your low end response will be. Do a little research. It took me three months to design and build a sub port tuned to 25HZ.

    The fun part is tackling and solving a project you've never done. I'm in the middle of designing a speaker set for my front left, center; and right channels based on 2206's, 2445J w/2385A horns, and 2404H Baby Cheeks.

    Hey I'm a chemist by degree and coat aluminum; and never had thought of building my own speakers until I joined LH Forums > this forum is quite a resource.

    Try them in 5-6 cubic ft. That seems to be a good compromise between the 4.5 as used in a B380 and larger boxes.

    I just had a look at the JBL B380 subwoofer enclosure.
    The 2235h is mounted in a 127 liter bassreflex box which tunes to 26hz....

    Sounds nice to me, but is this imo small enclosure capable of very low frequencies?

    2235 might be hard to get in Germoney. Try to find some frames and have them reconed by Guido. That would be as good as new. If you are trying to built 4430 copies, HP has blue prints for that one. 5 cubic feet is a well known no brainer enclosure and does provide plenty of low hz. Your 30 quadratmeter room is probably the biggest problem.

    As Rob said, go for 5 - 6 cu feet but remember, the 2235 will play low but in doing so it is slightly delicate power and mechanical wise. Double them up for spectacular results.

    I know other guys have done the 6 cubic foot thing but I put their limit at about 5 cubic feet because of the mass ring.

    The quasi-fifth order B380 alignment is pretty decent and protects the driver well enough for most home use (providing the boost filter is used).

    Otherwise the ubiquitous 5 cubic foot tuned to 30 Hz thing works quite well. Incidentally, this solution ends up working really well for the 1500AL too.

    Blueprints are bauplaene. 30 quadratmeter can be a little small, quite often smaller rooms do not allow a reproduction of low octave frequences. Lots of carpets and other dampening, plus having the loudspeaker placed away from walls, etc does often help.
    By the way I run 2235's in 5cubic feet in a 38 square meter cabin. It is impossible to run higher volumes since the walls are shaking at around 32hz. All movement of decorations has not been sucsessful. Just got to keep the volume down or things start moving in here. Still impressive but sounding ugly.
    5 cubic feet is what the JBL Gurus have been using. (4430,4435,4350).

    Bass tubes

    You can buy adjustable length bass ports , so you can play about until you are happy
