    D16R2405 in 2402H

I need to install a new diaphragm in a 2402H and don't have a D8R075 kit handy. Am I going to run into any problems dropping a D16R2405 kit into a 2402H?

    TIA

I'm sure it will be fine. JBL did a special order for a customer years ago with D16R2405's installed in 2402H's. Several of them showed up in the tent. It was labeled a 2402H-05. I was curious how it would sound in a Cabaret 4602A stage monitor.

    Thanks!

It may or may not work.

Some (including some LHF members and Orange County Speaker) have reported that the 2402 phase plug contacts the 2405 diaphram. When I did this testing, one of the LHF members sent me a new 2405 diaphram and I had OCS recharge the magnets and replace the existing diaphram the one on loan.

I first tested the 2405 diaphram on the 2402 using the 2404 phase plug as 2405 diaphrams were installed in 2404's also.

I then made and used a shim to alleviate any possible interference with the 2402 phase plug. I don't actually know if there was any diaphram interference as all testing was done with the shim to ensure the integrity of the diaphram.

Results were very positive and if you intend to cross this over at >8kHz, you will be pleased with the results. It was all documented here at one time, but now you'll have to look to another web site for this information.

You may also find the information on the elastomaric filter I pioneered that after you install the 2405 diaphram on the 2402, further extends and smooths the HF above 10KHz (more so than the 2405) while slightly increasing the dispersion of the 2402.

    Thank you Mr. Widget!
    Thank you Todd.
i knew I did not want to enter this discussion as I did not have ALL of the facts.

I am currently running 2405 phragm in my bullets 8K to daylight and all is well.
When I ran 2405 and 2405 aftermarket prhragms in my 4602 Cabaret monitors for the gurl band, they were getting popped pretty quickly. I abandoned the 4602's for some Eon 15's monitors and all were more pleased.
I think that the 4602 monitor runs the bullet a bit low, and would rather have a 4604 monitor with a small comp driver horn assembly.
For a simple que wedge though, I still have 4 of the 4602's; one 4602; three 4602A's.
i thought about sticking these 2410/ 2307/potato masher horn in these 4602's; replacing the E120 for 2202, -03, -04 and biamping with the right passive compensation filter on the horn, for a compact little monitor that will really cut through the stage volume.

Hi bob! How's everything down your way near St. louis?

    happy T-Day to all!

    Scotty.
