It appears that the current holder of the Altec Lansing brand has sold it off to yet another buyout artist (IMHO, that is). This link comes from the Santa Cruz Sentinel where Plantronics, the current owner, is based.

I think this quote says it all...
Ross Gatlin, chief executive officer at Prophet Equity, called Altec Lansing "a Dynamic company with a bright future in many portable digital audio platforms."
Its a darned shame, but Altec Lansing as we know it has been gone for years.
The Classic ALTEC gear is great, but the name ALTEC?
Its just a NAME, without manufacturing, without product,
in and of itself, "ALTEC" means nothing anymore ...
