I'd recommend that you ask that question on Audiokarma Home Audio Stereo Forums

What he said. Or vintage solid state forum...

Depends on the age and make/model.

For Yamaha, Merrylander is the man, but he's oft overbooked. Avionic takes on Yamaha and some others. For pioneer and some others, Echowars. As everyone knows, Terry Dewick is the Mac guy. I do some repair, but only my own Yamaha gear as it sometimes takes me too long to ID and then source parts.

Terry Dewick has worked on all my stuff. In the past 2 years he worked on the MC-30s that Harvey sold me. He also worked on 2 Kenwood KA-9100 intergrated amps as well as a Sansui 919. Everyone was a more than a satisfactory repair. Timely, fairly priced and came back packaged very well!

    Yup.

If the maker is still in business, you should contact their customer service center - they maintain a listing of authorized service providers, who you then contact and arrange to ship to.

I've got a local sound engineer, Eric White, who does stellar work. He's done 4 of my AB Systems 821B's and electrically matched and replaced the power transformers for an average price of 125 to 135 each!! He does great work, but shipping might get you. He's in Evansville IN > Pro Audio Service.

I found him by going to Guitar Center, and finding who they used in the area to fix their equipment. Best move I ever made. Turned out he knew AB Systems & Crown amps for the last 25 years, as we ended up customizing two of them for an additional $80 each, now all four put out a minimum of 600 wpc mono; just like the day they were made.

    Good luck.
