The Revel Performa B150 raises the performance bar, both in terms of low-distortion output capability, as well as in accurate, uncolored sound quality. Its 15-inch woofer and 4-inch voice coil are integrated with a 36-pound motor system and a true 1.5-inch linear excursion, resulting in the capability to provide enormous amounts of low-distortion bass. . Distortion is extraordinarily low without resorting to servo-feedback, thanks in part to the B150 woofer's symmetrical magnetic field, flux stabilization ring and copper shorting ring

I am not certain, but I'd bet it'll be a new woofer. The Project Array 1500 is currently using the W1500H and the new Revel is going to be best in it's class according to Kevin Voecks... the designer. Not that the Array 1500 is a slouch, in my opinion it is JBL's finest sub, but if he is going to improve upon it, he must be using a new woofer.

That $10K 18" sub will be using a woofer that uses JBL bits and pieces, but it is a unique design. I believe it'll be built by JBL Pro Manufacturing.

your probably right in both acounts

but a change in the amp (electronics) and box can clearly make one sub better than the other

i just rememberd the sub 1500
master tik sub and revel sub 15 had the same driver but one had a difrent electronics an box wich made it better

I would not be very surprised if the driver is a modified version of the 2269H. Maybe a 2269H frame with a custom cone and surround

The transducer in the B150 is essentially a W1500H, but with large (and “heavy”) inverted Aluminum dome instead of conventional paper dome (not my choice – but marketing). Also, the DCR has been reduced to 3.00 Ohms, which subsequently increases the motor force and slightly compensates for the heavier moving mass. Coil axial winding length is the same. Qts is still good at .31. It will be called the W1500H-1.

It's hard to think of that kind of $$$ for a sub right now, I'm having all the soffet/facia boards and the gutters repaired or replaced right now.....

What the heck is with those baffles near the top? Seems overly complex, with no advantage in terms of diffraction over a straight bevel.

During the AVS Los Angeles Home theater Group tour of Northridge, we got to see the raw drivers. Kevin Voecks was quite proud to point them out on the shelf, though there was no way he was going to lift one.

We did not get to hear one, however.
