I've been thinking about the lenses that are used on many Legacy JBL horns, and wonder if anyone has ever flipped them over, angling up, for better dispersion for anyone standing? Would this work, or defeat the optimized dispersion, as originally designed? Thoughts, comments, and suggestions, greatly appreciated! Thanks, and God Bless!

Well, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and will most certainly never be an engineer. But, from what I read, if I am reading it correctly, the lense will not change it's pattern, even if inverted, and the sound waves will be dispersed the same in either orientation. Am I right, or did I miss something? Thanks, VERY much, for that bit of very interesting information! I shall save it and file it with my JBL stuff. Thanks, again, and God Bless!

Yes but can you detect the difference as good bad or the same?
Thing is, you need a reference like sound to listen too? say a film/DVD play something that has some high frequency sound to left or right note how it sounded. Was it perceived clearly or was made worse or is it the same as before.
You might want to play the same sound a few times while looking at the sound! Yes looking at the sound how far do you turn your head?
You might want to sit stay heel LOL sit! In the chair and get someone to undo and flip the lens upside down quickly then get out of the way and play the sound again.
LOL this sounds like an act of madness.

Mid source should appear higher or lower, depending on "up"
or "down" orientation of lens. Design, including crossover may
have included the driver spacing. Flipping the lens moves the
apparent mid source closer to the tweeter and further from the
woofer. The interference shown in detailed frequency response
curves will change. For better or worse?
I'd just suggest tilting the speaker back (more), raising the
whole speaker to get the tweeter at ear level, or adjusting
the L-pads, but if you like the sound better with the lenses
up, leave them up and enjoy the music
Never heard any difference, except when VERY, VERY close to the speaker!
