    LX7 cabinet (I think)

Hello I am new to the forum and have a question. I saw these cabinets today loaded with a 14" woofer and a horn and they say on the back of them LX7. I can seem to find any info on them. Is there such a cabinet? The person who has them says he worked for JBL and they made them special for him. Did they make an LX& cab?

    Thanks

...that was apparently, the penultimate load for that cabinet, in terms of
available driver/crossover systems (a 15" bass driver being the upgrade).

If they came with the wooden grilles, that's a plus (vs. cloth). If they still
have the slat-lenses in front of the horns, that's a plus... the lenses can
be replaced with aftermarket or used pieces.

If the surround of the 14" driver is yellow, it may have turned hard or at
least be stiffer than the original intent... a solvable problem.

If the grilles are carved wood and damaged, it can be a problem to get
them repaired, sometimes a touch-up can make them presentable.

If the horns are no longer working, they can still be serviced.

What do they sound like? I've not heard that system group, but I'd
expect similar to how an early 70's JBL two-way studio monitor would,
if placed on the floor with a wood grille in front of it.

Send me a check for $250 and I'll tell you what I'd pay for them
(just kidding... please don't even ask)

Yes they have the carved wood grilles but one cabinet is missing it. Can you find them any more? I push in on one of the cones very gently to see if it would move in and out and it didn't. It seems very stiff. I'm pretty sure it should move correct? Sound comes out of both woofers and both horns. He played some orchestra music on them at a low volume. They have the slat-lenses still on. The lacquer finish is all cracked. He had them for sale at a garage sale for $500 and they didn't sell so he's willing to negotiate. What are they worth?

Dunno - not enough melody ... What's it worth to you?

Post pictures and maybe someone will have more info ...

Otherwise its like asking much is a car worth ...I think it said FORD on it?
... thats just too vague to even begin a guess -
generally, you are on your own negotiating in terms of unknown gear in some other place ...

Just pick these up for $300. They have the LE 14A woofers and the LE 85 horns. How do I clean the cones? The lacquer finish is all cracked should I leave it like that or should I refinish them? Will the value decrease if I refinish? Anything else I need to know. One of the grilles is missing can these be had anywhere? The paper work was still staple to back of each cab.
