    Question E145?

    Hi:

I got an E145-8 from eBay, when I finally got it, it looked exactly like an E140, the foil cal says E145-8 serial 10783 and looked like it had never been removed, I removed it expecting to see the ID in white ink "E140" or whatever, it does not have them; I measured the top plate and the magnet, and it is an E140; Is this a factory screw up?, it does not have the spacer ring either.

Anyway, it just needs a new surround, even the Al dome is OK, so IŽll fix it and get rid of it.

    Alex.

That's odd?? New surround?? Should be 2 roll treated cloth on any on the MI speakers. You have foam??? If not how do you repair the pleated cloth surrounds???

    Rob:

You replace it, just like foam; Any ideas on the mislabeling?, must have been labeled on a Monday.

I can't imagine JBL screwing up that bad. It sounds more like a third party job.

E145 frame looks nothing like the E140 and
has a paper dustcap, not Al (frame on E145 is
~3/4" thick where it mounts to cab).

    odd indeed.
