Interesting - some folks think the L100s are just perfect as is, no need to upgrade - but ... I sold mine and went with larger JBLs to get bass I liked better.

What are you trying to accomplish with swapping drivers?
What kind of sound are you aiming for?
L100s usually fetch good money when sold - maybe better to sell them and buy something that sounds more the way you like, rather than modify a pair of speakers with known character ...
    Just sayin' ...

    Troels Graveson

Makes a crossover kit for the L100. The drivers, when in good shape, are great.

Right - I've seen some of those kits for L100 - but - if you change out drivers and retune it, its not an L100 afterwards. The question is if its better to sell the L100 (usually easy to sell) and find a speaker that has the sound you like, or to modify a classic speaker into something else.

    I sold my L100s - I modified my L200s ... so I am not against mods per se ...

Well I have everyone tell me to leave them alone and just do the crossovers maybe ill just clean the pots and let them be they do sound great but when I adjust the controls they lose sound and then comes back time to deoxit them. But for $50.00 with factory stands cant go wrong.

Get a can of Caig Deoxit from Parts Express - its much better than the usual Radio-Shark tuner cleaner ...
do they need adjusting that often?

    Sounds like a great price.
That's about what I paid for mine last year without grills or stands!
I put new charcoal foam grills from Foam Trends on them, and sold them for much more than I paid for 'em.
Then I put the money into upgrades for my L200s ...

A pair of 2235s (or 2234s) will give you some serious bass!

No they hold pretty good its just when I first picked them up and tested them for the first time, I dont think they were moved in years, I worked them back and forth abit and now seem to be OK, but will clean them anyways.Cabinets are in good shape but had no grills also.I got a new set of grills from foamtrends and now look great, went with the black inserts cost way more than the speakers themselves but oh well.

$50 for L100s is SWEET. I'd pay double that for good condition 123A even though I already have a quad.
