    Surrounds look good?

Can a speaker have surrounds that appear to be good but are actually creating a problem? And what should you be looking for or listening for?

My unscientific method is to lightly feel or pinch the surrounds to how close they are to crumbling. You can compare the feel to a newer surround and test the elasticity. When that foam gets old and loses its elasticity, the compliance changes, but I am not sure if you can hear the difference. The bass response may suffer?

    Pictures would help, considerably...

    How old are the drivers?
Have they ever had work done?
    Are they foam surrounds?
