    JBL dual 18's on Ebay

    Help!

Interstesing set of JBL clones on Ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ory=23794&rd=1

The seller says the cabinets are made to SR series specs (model SR4719) and are loaded with 2245H's. The cabinet is designed for 2241H's.

Will the 2245H's perform well in this cabinet

    http://jblpro.com/pages/mi/sr_series.htm#SR4719A

I don't know how to calculate the internal volume of the cabinet.

    Thanks in advance!

If you look close at the photo the surrounds on the 18's don't look like foam. You should ask him if these were 2245's reconed with 2240 kits.

Even better if they were 2240's....

Thank you for your response. Since I would be using them with my mobile entertainment business, 2240 drivers may fit my needs better. That had crossed my mind (2240 kit) because the seller had sold some 2245H raw drivers awhile back and they had accordian surrounds. He has not reponded to any questions I have asked him so far. But, if this is legit, $450.00 per cabinet is a pretty fair deal.

    Hello
I just looked at the auction you are interested in, the price
seems fair just for the pair of drivers alone if.......
If they have been reconed are they JBL or aftermarket kits?
As for the cabinet what kind of material is it made of, plywood the type and grade, MDF or chip board and how well is the box braced
    internally.
Any speaker of that size going to be used in a portable system
will need to be built of good plywood to be able to withstand
the loading, unloading, setting up and tearing down.

Good soild internal bracing is a must. The orignial SR double 18 boxes used quite a few 2x4's tying all sides of them together.

Just a few questions to ask the seller.

To figure the internal volume of a box just multiply in inches the
length X width X height take that number and divide in to 1728
that answer will be the cubic footage.

1728 is the sum of 12x12x12

Let us know how the auction goes

    seller responded....

Reconed as 2240's with JBL kits. Good point on the cabs, Mike. I will ask more questions.

He says he has eight of them. I wish he wasn't 1200 miles away!

Time for a road trip??? Interested in being a co-pilot, Audiobeer???

    Hello
Maybe he could send you a picture or two of the internal
construction if he has a speaker pulled out of one.

    Good luck

    18"

keep in mind the shipping charges and ask what they drove them with.. recones are not fun on the 2240ect. They will perform great in that cabnet dont worry about it.
