    Cabaret V part II !

In an earlier installment I mentioned combining 4628B cabaret components with an EN5C cabinet , this I called the "cabaret V" .Some changes have been made.

The 2118 was a little outgunned by the E145 and 2404 , also partly muddied due to the fact that the E145 overlaps the bottom of the 2118's range .

Placing a 1.23 ? mh choke on the E145 rolled it off starting at about 800hz. Still unsatisfied with the 2118 I opted for a 2123 because it can hang with the E145 & 2404 . Without a doubt .

Sounds much better overall , and to my ears even better than a bose 901 system !

Some cosmetics are still needed and one more 6290 wouldn't hurt a thing .

I'm don't really miss low bass very much , fooled around with ports a good bit and finally just added 3db @ 31 & 62 hz with an equalizer . This resulted in better cone control for the woofers at high levels partly because the volume knob doesn't have to go as far around in the 1st place ...

Odd, since this seems to be your first post.

Umm....to me, comparing Bose to JBL is like comparing a Ford Pinto to a Cadillac.

As far as I'm concerned, the JBL will win.

I remember a guy that used to own a local hi-fi shop when I was in high school. He used to advertise Bose VERY heavily.

Once the customer came into the store and inquired about the Bose units that were on sale, he'd sell them something much better.

As far as I'm concerned, Bose is mostly marketing hype.

I'll bet Bose was picking up the larger piece of his advertising cost, a shrewd if somewhat unethical move on his part, but as long as Bose was happy with his numbers....

The part about the bose was a joke although it is true that these speakers sound worlds better .

I've heard bose 901's recently and it was ......... what's the word I'm looking for here ?

My buddy had them and he replaced them with an old pair of sansui sp2000 ?? speakers that I gave him and preffered the sansui's by a mile , as did I . The sansui's have woofers and tweeters .......

That ain't sayin' much but ....

But now the JBL's ... when you put in "emotional rescue" or "legs" or "when the levee breaks" or................

    IT'S ALL GOOD !
