To all Fathers: Happy Father's Day!!

I hope all you dads get the chance to listen to your favorite music on your favorite speakers today. You've earned it!

It's a particularly poignant day for me since I am the father of three daughters and, though my father passed away before he even met my wife of 28-years, he bought the first JBL I ever heard back when I was not even five-years-old—and I still have that 030 system today. We never really had a connection with music or hi-fi other than he bought what he felt was the best system he could afford at the time so our house could have music, even if he couldn't play an instrument or carry a tune! I fondly remember him singing along to the car radio in full resplendent voice, even if it was slightly off key. He would always tap his ring finger on the steering wheel in time to the music.

Today my kids all love music, I still have my Dad's speakers, and I'm wearing that same ring he used to keep time to the music while driving. I'm constantly asked to explain why my ring has someone else's intitials on it! Too bad Dad couldn't be here to see how his passion for music and the finer things in life has paid off for his four children and nine grandchildren. But somehow I feel he knows.

To all of you fathers out there—and those of you with fathers—use today as an excuse to tell your Dad what he means to you, or pass something worthwhile along to your kids today in your Dad's honor.
". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers

Ditto on the "Happy Father's Day" wishes.

Our Dad's were complete opposites when it came to music. My Dad has an outstanding Tenor voice. However, he never had a passion for listening to music. He was a talk-radio guy (you guessed it, Phil, KMOX). When I'd be upstairs rockin' out, he wouldn't waste his time yelling at me to "TURN IT DOWN!!" He'd simply go downstairs and flip the circuit breaker for my room.

    Problem solved.
