    4435 Woofers

While playing" With my 4435s i took out the woofers. To my surprise 1 is a 2234 while the other is a 2215H. Is this good or bad. The 2215 is much heavier than the 2234, Which do you recommend for the mid low and the low woofer? Thanks for any Advice, By the way these things are sonic paradise

Both woofers should be 2234H's. These are the same as the 2235H but without the mass ring.

Not sure why the 2215's are in there but you should check the cone to see if there are any numbers written on the back - maybe the 2215 was reconed with a 2234/35 kit? You'll have to do some research into whether the 2215 could be a compatible donor frame/magnet for that purpose. Otherwise, you'll need to look for some 2234's or 2235's and have them reconed without the mass ring.

I have some 2234 types made from 2235's.

    switcheroo

Somebody swapped them and depending if it was on the full range or sub 15 location, a VERY different sound would be noticed. Not to mention the levels and efficiency...think of having 15 and 14" tires on the same car...in FRONT..

I strongly suggest you get them replaced to bring the system back to correct.

The magnets are NOT the same and the 2215 cannot have anything BUT it's own cone installed no matter what the corner "repair guy" says.

I might have some 2234's in my project pile. PM if interested.

I put the 2234s in the low bass and the 2215s in the mid bass. Sounds great

4435's are tuned for two 2234's based on box size , networks and some other stuff.

Both 4435s have a 2215 in them. All the woofers had been redone by the last owner. The cones seem to be the same in the 2215s as the 2234s.

I use a Krell KSA 300s to drive a pair of 2235H electronically crossed over below 100Hz for the low end of my system. A bit slower, deeper and less efficient than the 2234H (which I also have at hand). Enjoy!
