    Altec 416 frame

Does anybody know who did manufacture the woofer frames for Altec when they moved their production to China? Or asked different: is the 416 frame still in production? (at least GPA offer several models with 416 frames...)

Or does somebody know a quality substitution?

It doesn't matter. Altec Lansing Technologies is not the real Altec. It's Sparkomatic, a compnay that bought the home line from Altec back in the 80's and then the name and some patents when the real Altec was shutdown in the 90's.

GPA is what is left of the real Altec. If you need parts or advice for Altec drivers talk to GPA......ignore ALT they make computer speakers. ALT should be regarded as an unrelated company.

ALT opinions aside... it was kind of them to bother hosting this useful compilation (which also directs to, and acknowledges current resources):

Today's Altec Lansing Technologies IS what used to be called Sparkomatic.

While the Wiki article does include a lot of information on Altec, it mostly treats ALT as it it were the real Altec...... it is not. Sparkomatic bought the name and a bunch of patents. They are Altec Lansing in name only. Even the Wiki states that "The actual company called Altec Lansing was never sold by Telex/EVI."

grumpy, I suspect much of their "kindness" is driven by there desire to pass themselves off as the real Altec Lansing. I could change my name to George Washington...... that doesn't make me the first president.

    Hi George.

Knowing much of the history, for me it's simply a supplemental/informational gift.

Names get bought up all the time, and the resulting companies often do diddly-squat
to put out legacy/discontinued item documentation. Whatever their motivation, I'm glad
    they did it.
