    Altec 802 diagram question

I'm going through a pair of old Altec 802-8D compression drivers which so far has included removing a busted 1/4 mounting stud, running taps through the threads, cleaning the VC gap, etc.

Since the original diaphragms are blown, I'm considering (1) having the motors recharged, and (2) replacing the frams with Radians.

One thing I have noticed with the ALtecs that are different from JBLs are the plastic caps the cover the diaphragms.

Will these plastic caps fit the Radians or do the Radians come with a new plastic caps?

    Thx.

The caps will fit over the Radian diaphragms.

Some people claim to detect an improvement in sound deleting the cap (the purpose of which was to limit excursion at high output) and lining the back cover with felt, as was done by Altec themselves in some models. You might want to play around with that.
