New foam surrounds superior to old foam?

OK, so I've had a few drivers with foam surrounds (2245s, 411s) reconed recently and I was wondering if the new foam will last any longer than the foam they used from the factory +20 years ago?

I assume there have been advances in foam technology; right?

What factors contribute to foam deterioration:

    • humitity
    • sunlight
    • over excursion (abuse)?
    Thx..

You can add air quality (i.e., smog) as a significant foam degradation factor.

Depending on one's location, this could now be less of an issue, vs 20-30
    years ago.
