    Something to read.

Not sure if this is the right place. Moderator, please move if inappropriate.

I'm in the process of plowing through a paper by Wolfgang Klippel. I think it could be useful for the amateour DIY'r to get a deeper understanding on how our beloved transducers work.

    http://www.klippel.de/pubs/Klippel%2...ymptoms_06.pdf

The paper is nicely illustrated by both formulas and graphs.

Cool document... I'll put it in the General Audio Discussion area.

It looks like it'll take more than 5 minutes to read it.

The leader for my department, Professor Peter Svensson is the author or CO/author of several AES papers. (Just search the AES library). I asked him if he had an oppinion about the credibility and quality of Klippels work.

He stated that W. Klippel is among the very few that is widely recognized when it comes to theoretical modelling of non-linearities in dynamic transducers.

He should know, since his area of expertise is mathematical modelling and simulation of acoustics.

It's well worth reading even if you skip all the math. For example, read the last paragraph on page 33...interesting comment!
