    L100 tweeter upgrade question

new user here, is a 035Ti (a) a superior tweeter to the original LE25 in the L100? Has anyone did this change and what xover changes need be made and is it great upgrade or nominal. I have done a crossover upgrade in my L100's now and its great! Its the one from denmark- anyone familiar with it? Thanks alot- Brian

I looked into this some time ago. The 035Ti has a round piece of plastic which has to be cut to fit around the LE-5 midrange. This old farts ears could not hear much of a difference between the sound of the the two, but by all accounts, the 035Ti is superior to the LE-25. The crossover point seemed to work fine with the 035Ti.

I wound up leaving the LE-25s in mine.

I made charge coupled crossovers for mine, nice upgrade. An not familiar with the one from Denmark.

    Good luck!

The 035Ti is certainly a better tweeter, but that doesn't mean that you can pop one in there and make a better L100. Unless you really understand how this stuff works, I'd stick with tried and true "upgrades" that others have already tested.

Personally, I am not a fan of modifying the L100 at all. I have a stock pair. I enjoy them as they are. To significantly improve them, they would cease being anything like L100s.

    Hello Brian

If I am reading your post right you have purchased the L100 upgrade crossover. Is that correct??

If so I would not upgrade to the 035ti without contacting the vendor you purchased it from.

With a standard L100 crossover all you do is add a .2mh inductor to make it a 4312 equivalent. With the modified crossover no one here can predict what will happen.

The L100 tweeters are very decent units when in good condition.

However, since you have a working pair of stock L100 tweeters now, what would be the worst thing that could happen if you swapped them? You might not like the result and then you may wish to reinstall the stock pair.

Baffle modifications are a different issue, I suppose.

I'm with Widget. Every time I've looked at upgrading L100(A)/4311(B), I end up at 4412s.

They are what they are; leave 'em be that -- fake, but fun....

..over the years 1,000s of pairs of L100s have been raped and pilaged. That is why most here would like you not to change them - me included.

...add a powered sub woofer and be happy.

    4412s are cheaper than L100s.

    [At least for now.... ]
