    power amp for JBL L110

    Hey guys,

Curious to know what people recommend as a super clean, transparent power amp for the JBL L110. I use them as studio monitors (and LOVE them), and presently use the ART SLA-1 (cheap, but pretty impressive), but would prefer something with a tad more power (the SLA-1 is 50w per side @ 8 ohms) and something without fans. As many of you would know, the L110 is a 75w 8 ohm speaker, so if there is a clean 75w @ 8 ohm power amp out there, I'd love to know about it. I've heard of people driving the L110s with 100w @ 8 ohm power amps successfully before, but I'm reticent to do this. Would love to hear from some of you!

    warm regards,

    Adam

    Crown PS-200 100WPC @8ohms
    Crown PS-400 200WPC
    Crown D150A-II 95WPC
    Crown DC300A-II 175WPC

None of these will be "too powerful" for your needs. I've used them all on L96, L112, and the like for decades.

If you're really looking for clean power, the Crown D75A is a real jewel at 40WPC but I think you'd enjoy the PS-200 the most. Remember, JBL power recommendations are usually followed by the suggestion that you should double the power for head-room. If you noticed, the L110 is rated for "Power Capacity: 75 watts Continuous Program" while the L110A is rated for "Max Rec. Amp Power: 250 watts per channel". Same sensitivity and basically the same drivers.

Great! I'll check these out. All fanless? I need 100% silent operation.

Great to know now I can look into higher wattage too.

    Yes, nothing but convection cooling.
