    correct woofer on L100

    Hi guys,
I'm from belgium so my english 's not too good.
Well I've just bought a pair of nice JBL L100 loudspeaker but the woofer are black instead of beeing white. The guy ( the seller) tells me they were so because of beeing build in 1969.

I don't know what to think, in 1969, was the l 100 already existing?

the woofer are L122A, are they initial composant of the l 100, or been replacing the first white one.

The front of the loudspeaker is not in foam but black with tissue.

So guys, if you can give me some help about these L 122 A black parts of my L 100 it would be great.

    thanks

    Hi...

The proper woofer for the L100, in all it's US variants - I believe - is the 123A (-1, or -3). These are "white face" woofers and the surround is pleated.

Does your L100 look like the first pic, or the second (L100T3)? That is a black-faced woofer but the surround is foam.

    Which are you?

From your description, I think you have the L100 (L100 Century, L100A Century or L100A Century (Late Model), and your woofers have been swapped. We need to know which one you have.

If any of these, since the 123A(-x) is obsolete, the recommended woofer swap is the 2213H. I am unable to Link to the consumer Technical Manuals, any more - maybe someone here (Zilch...?) can help.

Is this what you're trying to link to?

They all confirm the 2213H as the replacement, and reversing polarity is listed only on the L100A (not the late version or early)!

    122a is from the L65 or L166.
    122a-1 is from the L65A or L166A

both are black cone, foam surround. If they're a pleated surround they're not stock or ???

    L122A ???

    re- 122a & L100

Thank you very much for your answers, now I know that the 122A woofers are not the otiginal one.

mine are L 100 century, serial number 179532A

Is it possible to insert photos so I could show you what they look like?
In the serial of four units on the photo, mines are the second from the left .

The foam is out of order and I will replace it because the seller gives me new one for both.

No problem I know someone who has already done it for several of his jbl's.

Do you think the configuration 122A & L 100 century will sound good, someone tells me the 122A has a deeper bass sound but not specialy wrong model for the L 100.

    Thanks guys for your help

    Do they work for JBL...?

For best results, stick to recommended drivers. The 2213H is the recommended swap, if the 123A (-x) cannot be had.
