The 2220 can do good bass only in large enclosures and normally horn types like 4530, 4550 or 4560. They are normally used in bass/midrange applications.
The 222* series with the paper dome is similar in characteristics to the D/K/E series with aluminum domes. Often, people find the aluminum dome gives brightness they like on bass and guitar, but the 222* series with the paper dome is smoother and preferred for PA and monitor speakers.
If you want to pop the drivers in small ported boxes, then the 140 version is preferable.
The E140 is similar to the 2225 and the D or K140 to the 2205. Any of those models will work well in ported boxes of 2 to 5 cubic feet.
