    JBL M31-4 speaker questions

I recently bought an amp with one of these 15" speakers in it. I have read that the M31 was a re-release of the original D-130F. I have seen on eBay where an M31 speaker was supposedly custom made for the Kustom amp company. On here I believe I read that the M31 was made for early Peavey steel guitar amps.

Can anyone fill me in on the real heritage of this thing ? Is it actually A D130F with just a different model number, or is it a whole different model. Or does anyone really know ?

If it is re-coned with modern parts/materials, is it likely that it will loose some of it's original character ? This thing works by the way, it isn't blown.

First post here. Sorry for the list of questions.

    Thanks in advance....Phil

It looks like it was a version of the 130, the cone kit is no longer available. I don't know if the -4 is for a 4 ohm coil or it has other differences as well.
