    The Depth of JBL

Ok fellas, on a quest I am to find the JBL(home) speaker with the deepest bass response. Where shall I start? I'm not a rap-head, I just like deep bass-my current "home" speakers are a pair of 78 Cornwalls.
I auditioned a pair of 4430s, I think, they had a linebacker buttcheek tweet and a 15" woof however the bass seemed a bit thin, quite surprising condsidering their size.
The cat that pawned them did a 3/4 plywood job on them, a bit rough they looked but the face along with the drivers had the JBL look.
    The asking price is 300.

    Thanks,

4430 bass may require retuning for more extended bass, as discussed in other threads here.

OR, add a pair of B380 or B460 subs....

$300 is a steal if all of the right components are there and they all work to spec. A pair of just the horns and drivers recently fetched ~$430 on the 'bay.

For the deepest bass, these W15GTI's put the 2235s to shame (sorry guys). Bring LOTS of power though.

best i ever got with my 4430s was with 2 B380 home made jobs crossed over around 70 to 80. Midrange improved. bass improved. However, that being said there are many other better solutions than the 4430, altho if you can get them for 300, well that's hard to beat ONLY if he used the original crossovers. If the crossovers are "Home Grown" pass on it. they won't be 4430's, no matter what else is in there.

That's what I was thinkin, the bass response just seemed a bit thin, much like the bass of a Heresy.lol

It was either the Colonel Sanders(one of those all in one things) receiver or something wrong with the crossovers.
The horns were freakin loud and clear though.
