Somehow, it would appear OP has a different purpose and objective in mind here.
Good one. True vintage at high end. Questionable whether the objective of OP is a reasonable one. At least regarding esthetics.

Once I noticed the 755e are sold for ~755$$ I wondered what this price is paid for. It can't be superiority technical wise for obvious reasons.

What's left is esthetics. The 755e is an "objet trouve" (lost property) that is kept and loved for the unlikelyhoud with which it appeared In this case how it could withstand time and technical evolvement.

possibly an unpopular opinion, but i really enjoy the sounds of 755's and 756es in open baffles, and found 'em totally engaging-- especially with something like an rp302 ! MUCH less so by themselves-- it's not the full spectrum hifi sound in the modern sense... but they've definitely got a really nice sound... whether they measure out as anything but gatsby boxes... well... they are only 8" drivers with super limited cone movement...

regardless- they're definitely capable of lovely sounds-- and seem to 'image' better with a tweet, to my ears.. but they're definitely more of a 'tone' speaker than anything else!

i dunno.. i enjoy that kinda stuff, and tend to split the difference between 'flatness' and 'gooeyness'! but 755's tend to live squarely in the 'gooeyness' camp!
